She didn't expect it to come so sharply, and she cries out when the pain wakes her from her dreams. "Remy!"

But Remy's already up beside her, asking what's wrong, holding her, checking her over with a worried expression.

"It's time," she says as soon as she can get out the words.

She's almost surprised at how fast he moves into action and gets them into the car and heading for the hospital. She is surprised at how agonizingly fast, how torturously slow the whole thing is as she fights through screams and contractions until she hears her child's cry.
