"In Hoodoo (African American folk magic popular in the south and most especially New Orleans) playing cards are often used in divination. The card meanings mainly come from two reference books I use "Hoodoo Mysteries" by
Ray T Malborough and "Rootwork" by Tayannah Lee McQuillar."

Suit of Hearts
Ace of Hearts: home and environment/Happiness and spiritual blessings.
Two of Hearts: A special partnership, attraction, commitment.
Three of Hearts: A time for celebration. Happiness and friendship. When surrounded by spades, it could indicate deceit by someone close to you.
Four of Hearts: Discontent with life, delays, disappointments, broken promises.
Five of Hearts: Extremely lucky card. Spiritual seekers and those with higher knowledge are indicated. Mixing with people, friends and associates.
Six of Hearts: A compromise or relief from worries. Contentment or peace of mind. May also indicate a person who doesn't appreciate what they have.
Seven of Hearts: card of illusions, delusions of grandeur. If surrounded by positive cards, can indicate a reunion with an old friend.
Eight of Hearts: Change in attitude or re-evaluation of the matter at hand. Reconciliation or quarrels mended, continuing a romance or friendship.
Nine of Hearts: The wish card. With hearts touching it, it is granted. With spades, the wish is blocked.
Ten of Hearts: Good Fortune and Happiness in the home or with family, a combination of all the good cards in this suit.
Jack of Hearts: A female child or a proposal of marriage. A kind friend that you have or will meet. If this card indicates a woman, she is far from shy and will speak her mind without apology.
Queen of Hearts: A passionate, spiritual woman who puts her ideals into practice. She is creative and powerful. If this card indicates a man, he is the sensitive type.
King of Hearts: A generous, affectionate man with a heart of gold.

Eight of Clubs: Go ahead and take the chance. Don't let anyone get in the way (also called the "horse with blinders" card.)
Nine of Clubs: Opportunities opening up/ triumph after a challenge.
Ten of Clubs: Good fortune and completion/progress in business
Jack of Clubs: A male child or flirtatious person. A confident, passionate man with strong beliefs and high values.
Queen of Clubs: A confident, intelligent woman with considerable occult knowledge or capabilities. If this card represents a man, he is eccentric.

Six of Spades: worry, self doubt, Things are improving but you must not get lazy. Keep fighting and all will turn out in your favor.
Seven of Spades: Breaking off a relationship, association or friendship. Careful planning before taking a risk, if surrounded by negative cards, it isn't a good move.
Eight of Spades: Controversy, conflict with family members. Self-empowerment and growth is indicated if surrounded by positive cards, Loss and trouble is surrounded by negative cards.
Nine of Spades: Disappointment, failure, sorrow. The card of drastic change. The cannot be avoided whether for positive or negative. The more you fight it, the worse it will get.
Ten of Spades: Jail, imprisonment, legal problems. With hearts or diamonds, favorable. With spades or clubs, unfavorable.
